SUMMER FAN USE
Once the warmer days of summer arrive, you might turn on your fans and leave them running for weeks or months at a time. However, it’s important to make sure your fans are clean and that they’re rotating the proper direction for adequate airflow.
In the summer, your ceiling fans should rotate counterclockwise in order to push the air down through the center of the room, providing the cooling effect that makes a space more comfortable. Winter Fan Use
In the winter, it’s imperative to reverse the rotation of your ceiling fans so that they run clockwise. It’s a good idea to check this when you first turn them on, since the fans have likely been off for a few months. With the clockwise rotation, the fan will pull air up towards the ceiling and move it to the walls of the room, redistributing the warmer air and keeping the space more comfortable. Even if the mercury outside is dropping and you’re running the furnace, your ceiling fans can keep the inside temperature consistent while running at low speeds.
